Before you start
Use a Lorivelle recording with a separate mouse track. A pointer embedded in an imported video is part of the picture and cannot be removed by the cursor visibility controls.
Choose the interval to show without a pointer
Play the recording and find the moment after the action finishes. Select the interval where the result should stand on its own. Keep the pointer visible while it identifies the control the viewer needs to use.
Add the timed Hide cursor effect
Choose Hide cursor from Add effect or the Effects menu. Select its timeline block. The inspector explains that the cursor is hidden during the chosen range; the recorded screen remains visible.
Adjust Start and End
Enter Start and End in the effect inspector or drag the block's edges. Dragging the center moves the whole interval. Keep the hidden interval away from clicks whose location the viewer needs to see.
Review the cursor's return
Play from before the effect through the following action. Confirm that the pointer disappears at the right time and returns before it is needed. Disable or remove the effect if it hides useful information. To hide the pointer throughout the recording instead, turn off Show cursor in Cursor.
A few things to check
Can I change the interval after placing it?
Yes. Select the Hide cursor block and change Start and End, resize its edges or move the block. You can also disable the effect temporarily or remove it.
Why is the pointer still visible in an imported recording?
It may be embedded in that video's picture. Lorivelle's visibility effect controls a separately recorded mouse track; it does not erase a pointer from a flattened video.
Should I hide the cursor throughout a tutorial?
Keep it when its position explains the action. Hide it for moments where it covers a label or distracts from reading the result. Review with a viewer's task in mind rather than hiding it everywhere by default.
