Style the recording without hiding the work

Choose a background and frame that make the interface easy to read. Then tune the recorded cursor so it guides the viewer through the task. Start with the output size your audience will actually use.

Here I give the recording a device frame, then add padding and choose a background. You can see the preview change beside the settings. I play the result in the same editor to check the composition and follow the whole action.

Before you start

Open a project or compatible imported video. Background and canvas settings work with either. The cursor controls need the separate mouse track recorded by Lorivelle; a pointer embedded in an imported video is already part of its picture.

  1. Choose the canvas for the destination

Open Design and choose Automatic, 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 or 4:5. Pick a wide canvas for a detailed desktop walkthrough or portrait when the destination needs a vertical video. The screen keeps its proportions inside the chosen output shape.

  2. Set the background and padding

Choose a color, one of eight Gradients or a bundled Wallpaper, then adjust Padding to reveal it. Screen offers independent Corner rounding and Shadow controls when the mobile frame is off. Keep the border restrained so the interface remains readable at the size where you will share it.

  3. Use a device-style frame where it helps

Enable the mobile frame if that presentation suits the content and check the crop and canvas together. The frame adapts to the video format. It is a visual treatment of the recording, rather than a mode for capturing an iPhone or iPad over USB.

  4. Adjust the separate recorded cursor

Open Cursor. Show or hide the mouse pointer, set its size from 0.5× to 3×, and enable smoothing if it helps the movement feel steady. Cursor motion blur softens cursor movement while keeping the screen content sharp. These controls affect the separate mouse track, not a pointer already embedded in a video.

  5. Preview movement and readability

Play the action through zooms, menus and camera layout changes. Keep the cursor noticeable without covering the label you want viewers to read. Check captions against the background, then save the project and inspect the exported file before sharing it.

A few things to check

Why can I not change the cursor in an imported video?

Its pointer may already be embedded in the video picture. Cursor size, visibility, smoothing and motion blur use the separate mouse track recorded with Lorivelle.

Does a vertical canvas stretch the screen?

No. The screen keeps its proportions. Use a useful crop and appropriate padding to compose it within the portrait canvas, and check that the complete action remains visible.

Can I change the styling after saving?

Yes. Reopen the editable .screenrec project and change Design or Cursor settings. A finished MP4 contains the rendered composition, so keep the project for future revisions.
