Before you start
Open the recording and locate the action you want to explain. Decide whether viewers need a region highlight, a text note or both. Too many simultaneous cues can make the screen harder to follow.
Highlight the useful screen region
Select the relevant interval and choose Highlight from Add effect. Draw the area around the control or result. Leave enough of its surrounding label visible for viewers to recognize it.
Refine the existing highlight
Select the Highlight block on the timeline. Move the outlined area or use its resize handles, then adjust its settings in the inspector. Set Start and End so it appears only while the region is useful.
Add one short text note
Choose Text for a timed note and enter its wording. Explain what the viewer should do or notice, rather than repeating every label already visible on the screen. Set its appearance and position in the preview.
Check the complete interval
Play from before the highlight appears to after it ends. Keep the note clear of the important UI and captions. A fixed highlighted region does not follow a scrolling page, so use another interval and position when the target moves.
A few things to check
Can I move a highlight after placing it?
Yes. Select the existing timeline block and adjust its outlined region in the preview or its area controls in the inspector.
Can I change the text after adding it?
Yes. Select the Text effect to update the wording, appearance, position and time interval. Keep the project if you want to make those edits later.
Does Highlight hide private information?
A highlight guides attention. To obscure private details, use Blur and check that the information stays unreadable for the whole interval.
