A short lesson: review a task and hand it over

Let's finish a task before we hand it over. Open the signup flow, check the last item, and leave a note that tells the next person what's ready. Now move the card into review, and bring the migration guide into progress. The board reflects both changes, so the whole team can see what happens next.

Explain and demonstrate

Introduce the idea on camera, then show the application while you explain the decisions.

Keep the lesson moving

Remove long pauses and repeated attempts. Speed up repetitive work while preserving the steps the learner needs.

Deliver your own files

Export MP4 lessons for your course platform, learning portal or website. Your recordings and edits stay on your Mac.

Let the learner see the work.

Keep useful context visible, slow down for an important decision and give small controls enough space. The camera can introduce a point without covering the application for the whole lesson.

Shape the lesson with camera layouts

Set and refine the camera composition in the editor.

Here I select an interval and add a camera layout. Fullscreen camera introduces the idea. Split screen keeps the speaker and the work together, while an overlay gives the screen more space. I can also choose Screen only. The purple blocks show where each layout applies. Finally, I adjust the transition and play the complete sequence. I start on camera to introduce the update, then bring in my screen to walk through the task. As I finish the checklist and leave a review note, my camera stays in the corner. When I move the work across the board, I give the screen more room. One recording, four layouts, with the transitions already handled.

Keep the screen readable

Use a stable zoom for the relevant action. Review the lesson at the size learners will watch, especially if your application has dense text.

Check the sound

Balance microphone and system audio separately. Listen to a short test take before recording a complete lesson, and compare any speech enhancement with the original.

Finish with the result

Show the completed task before ending. Give viewers a concrete action to try in their own workspace, rather than introducing another feature at the end.

Questions about recording a course.

How do I record a software course on Mac?

Prepare one task, then record your display or a selected area with Lorivelle. Enable the microphone for narration and camera if useful. Edit pauses, adjust zooms and layouts, then export an MP4 for your course platform.

Can I switch between the instructor and the screen?

Yes. Record with your camera enabled, then set fullscreen camera, split screen, camera overlay or screen only on the timeline. Lorivelle animates the changes, and you can adjust their transition duration.

Does Lorivelle host or sell my course?

Lorivelle records, edits and exports video files. Upload the finished lessons to the course platform or website you choose.

Can I add subtitles to my lesson?

Write them in Lorivelle or import an SRT file. Automatic transcription is not included, so prepare the text yourself or use a separate transcription tool.
